Shakespeare plays PERICLES on stage

A view of the stage, with a sign telling us that we are on a beach in Ancient Greece. Shakespeare is centre-stage, performing as Pericles dressed in classical style; he looks cold and very wet. Three fisherman, one carrying a rod and another holding some fish, study him with bemusement

PERICLES What I have been I have forgot to know;
But what I am, want teaches me to think on:
A man thronged up with cold. My veins are chill,
And have no more life than may suffice.
To give my tongue that heat to ask your help;
Which if you shall refuse, when I am dead,
For that I am a man, pray you see me buried.

Pericles, Act 2 Scene 1
